Please do not call us by the name of our fatherwho crossed over to a promised land.
We honor him, it is true. But we do not follow the Spirit of his teachings by settling matters with the sword.
Our belief is that the worth of every soul is great, including the most wicked.
They need notperishto accomplish God's will, and we will serve them.
Even if they cast us into prison.
Even if they cast us into a furnace.
Even if they cast us into a den of wild beasts.
And it is by that name we will answer again.
For we are among you, and you know us not.
But when we see your fruits of repentance, when you call on the Father in the name of Christ, we will establisha marvelous work.
For we are the disciples of Jesus, witnesses by our own eyes of Him, and know of a surety that His word is true. In nothing do we work, save it is in His name.
Hearken unto me, ye that follow after righteousness. Look unto the rock from whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit from whence ye are digged. Look unto Abraham, your father, and unto Sarah, she that bare you; for I called him alone, and blessed him.
For the Lord shall comfort Zion, he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving and the voice of melody.
Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation; for a law shall proceed from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light for the people. My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arm shall judge the people. The isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust.
Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath; for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment; and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner. But my salvation shall be forever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.
Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart I have written my law, fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings. For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool. But my righteousness shall be forever, and my salvation from generation to generation.
Awake, awake! Put on strength, O arm of the Lord; awake as in the ancient days. Art thou not he that hath cut Rahab, and wounded the dragon? The redeemed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy and holiness shall be upon their heads; and they shall obtain gladness and joy; sorrow and mourning shall flee away.
I am he; yea, I am he that comforteth you. Behold, who art thou, that thou shouldst be afraid of man, who shall die, and of the son of man, who shall be made like unto grass? And forgettest the Lord thy maker, that hath stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth, and hast feared continually every day, because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy? And where is the fury of the oppressor?
The captive exile hasteneth, that he may be loosed, and that he should not die in the pit, nor that his bread should fail. But I am the Lord thy God, whose waves roared; the Lord of Hosts is my name.
And I have put my words in thy mouth, and have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that I may plant the heavens and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion: Behold, thou art my people.
Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, which hast drunk at the hand of the Lord the cup of his fury—thou hast drunken the dregs of the cup of trembling wrung out—And none to guide her among all the sons she hath brought forth; neither that taketh her by the hand, of all the sons she hath brought up.
These two sons are come unto thee: Judah and Ephraim, who shall be sorry for thee—thy desolation and destruction, and the famine and the sword—and by whom shall I comfort thee? Thy sons have fainted, save these two; they lie at the head of all the streets; as a wild bull in a net, they are full of the fury of the Lord, the rebuke of thy God.
Therefore hear now this, thou afflicted, and drunken, and not with wine: Thus saith thy Lord, the Lord and thy God pleadeth the cause of his people; behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling, the dregs of the cup of my fury; thou shalt no more drink it again. But I will put it into the hand of them that afflict thee; who have said to thy soul: Bow down, that we may go over—and thou hast laid thy body as the ground and as the street to them that went over.
Awake, awake, put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city; for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean. Shake thyself from the dust; arise, sit down, O Jerusalem; loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.
Abide in the liberty wherewith you are made free. Entangle not yourselves in sin, but let your hands be clean until the Lord come, for not many days hence, and the earth shall tremble and reel to and fro as a drunken man, and the Sun shall hide his face and shall refuse to give light, and the Moon shall be bathed in blood, and the Stars shall become exceeding angry and shall cast themselves down as a fig that falls from off a fig tree.
And after this testimony comes wrath and indignation upon the people, for after this testimony comes the testimony of earthquakes that shall cause groanings in the midst of her: and men shall fall upon the ground and shall not be able to stand, and also comes the testimony of the Manifestations of thunderings, and the Manifestations of lightnings, and the Manifestations of tempests, and the Manifestations of the waves of the sea heaving themselves beyond their bounds. And all things shall be in commotion, and surely men’s hearts shall fail them, for fear shall come upon all people.
I was back in Kirtland, Ohio, and thought I would take a walk out by myself, and view my old farm, which I found grown up with weeds and brambles, and altogether bearing evidence of neglect and want of culture. I went into the barn, which I found without floor or doors, with the weather-boarding off, and was altogether in keeping with the farm.
While I viewed the desolation around me, and was contemplating how it might be recovered from the curse upon it, there came rushing into the barn a company of furious men, who commenced to pick a quarrel with me. The leader of the party ordered me to leave the barn and farm, stating it was none of mine, and that I must give up all hope of ever possessing it.
I apologized for trespassing and said that I was just reminiscing the days I was blessed to spend time in this place, and how lucky they were to hold the historic estate. I asked them what they thought of the farm now. They were rather taken aback at my cordial demeanor and their response was still heated, but by and by they confessed that it had gone into great disrepair. I then told them that if they would forgive me for stepping on their property, I would be pleased to take up a shovel and rake and help them restore the old homestead.
Reluctantly, they agreed, and we commenced to digging up the noxious plants which infested the meadow. As I was skinning new lumber to apply to the sorry exterior, a rabble rushed in and nearly filled the barn, drew out their knives, and began to quarrel among the other laborers for the premises. Before it could come to blows, however, I spoke aloud so all parties could hear me, then reminded them of the work we had undertaken to recondition the beautiful, albeit decayed site, and that in the end it would be of great benefit to the community, no matter who owned it.
The altercation slowly became less intense, and at length all members confessed that they, too wanted to see the farm restored back to its full glory, and while there were small arguments about how that should be accomplished, when we set our differences aside, the work was accomplished in short order.
By the time we finished our endeavor, the fields were lush with grain, the trees were again bearing sweet fruit and all participants had forgotten about who was the proper owner of the farm. For there was abundance overflowing the storehouses and plenty for all who were in need, and then much more besides.
In the end, we all became great comrades in labor, our brotherly love waxing strong. While we feasted upon the bounty, the dream or vision ended.
Jacob 4 - Between the Lines
He who prophesies, let him do so to the language and understanding of men.
The Jews were stubborn and did not like plainness, so the Lord gave them what they wanted, what they could not understand, so that they would stumble.
But the Gentiles speak the language of David: the tongue of psalms and songs, the lessons of art and performance.
A prophet of old, Zenos, gave an allegory.
He knew about these things (as the ways of God are given to other witnesses), and spoke in the language of both Jew and Gentile, (if they have ears to hear).
The answer and the great mystery will be unfolded in the Tale of the Good and the Wild Fruit.
See now, the weakness and the power of Jew and Gentile.
And so as the disciples of Jesus were journeying and were preaching the things which they had both heard and seen, and as they were performing the ordinance of baptizing in the name of Jesus, the disciples gathered together and united in mighty prayer and fasting.
And Jesus appeared to them again, for they were praying to the Father in his name as Jesus had instructed them in Bountiful; and Jesus came and stood in the middle of them, and said to them: What is your request?
And they said to him: Lord, we would like you to tell us the guiding principles for the church; for there are arguments among the people concerning this matter.
And the Lord said to them: I will give you the true answer. But I must ask, why is it that the people complain and argue about this? I declared to you that my doctrine is to do away with such things as contending and complaining.
Have they not read the scriptures that were organized in Bountiful, which say you must take upon you the name of Christ, which is my name? For by this name and my principles and doctrine you will be called out at the last day; and whoever takes upon him my name, by immersing himself in my doctrine, and doesn't give up, the same will be saved at the last day. Therefore, whatever you do, you should do it in my name and by my guiding principles; therefore, you should establish my doctrine to guide the church. And you should all call upon the Father in my name that he will bless the church for my sake.
But how can it be my church unless it guided by my doctrine and principles? For if a church is called in Moses’ name, then it will be Moses’ church and have his guiding principles; or if it is called in the name of a man then it will have the articles of faith of a man; but if it is called in my name then it is my church and my doctrine, as long as it is built upon my foundation, rock, doctrine and gospel.
The truth is, you are presently built upon my gospel as I established it; therefore, you should gather, serve and call anything you do call, in my name; therefore, if you pray and call upon the Father in behalf the church, if it is in my name, my rock, my doctrine and my guiding principles, the Father will hear you. Furthermore, if the church is built on my foundation, gospel, and guiding principles the Father will show his marvelous works and miracles in it through you, which will be very convincing to the people who are the recipients of the blessings.
But if the church is not built upon my foundation, gospel, and guiding principles and is built upon the works of men, or upon the works of the devil, the truth is that those in the church will have joy in their own works and desires for a season, and after a while the end comes, and they will be cut down and cast into the fire, (from where there is no return), and not lifted up. For their works will follow them, and it is because of their own works which lack charity that they are cut down; therefore remember the things that I have told you.
Look, I have taught you about my gospel, and this is the gospel which I have given to you—that I came into the world to do the will of my Father, because my Father sent me. And my Father sent me that I might be lifted up upon the cross; and after I would be lifted up upon the cross, I could draw all men to me. As I have been lifted up by men who afflicted me, even so should men be lifted up by the Father, to stand before me, to be judged of their works, whether they be of my name and good or whether they be of men or the devil and evil—and this is the reason I have been lifted up; therefore, according to the power of the Father I will draw all men unto me, that they may be judged according to their works.
And whoever repents of doing works for their own sake, and is immersed in my foundation, gospel and guiding principles will be filled with charity and the gifts of the Holy Ghost; and if he does not give up, I will hold him guiltless before my Father at that day when I shall stand to judge the world.
And whoever does not endure to the end will be cut down and thrown into the fire, from where they cannot return, because of the justice of the Father. And this is the word which he has given to the children of men. And for this reason he fulfills the words which he has given. And he does not lie, but fulfills all his words.
And since no unclean thing can enter into his kingdom, nothing can come into his rest except for those who have washed their garments in my blood, because of their faith and belief that my way does not fail, and repentance of all their sins, and their faithfulness to the end, and following my guidance.
Now this is my guidance: Repent, all you ends of the earth, and come to me and be baptized in my name, that you may be sanctified by the reception of the Holy Ghost, that you may stand spotless before me at the last day. In other words, change your approach to my way, which as I have said is to do away with such things as complaining and arguing, and immerse yourselves in these principles, and be guided by them, that I can tell the Father that you are guiltless and he can show forth his works through you by giving you charity and gifts of the Holy Ghost.
I tell you in truth: this is my gospel, my foundation and my guiding principles; and you already know the things that you must do in my church; for you should do thing things you have seen me do; therefore, if you do these things you will be happy and even ‘more blessed,’ for you will be lifted up at the last day, by lifting others.
You are my witnesses. Write the things that you have seen and heard, except for those things which are forbidden. Write the works of this people going forward, just like what has been written so far. Because out of the books which have been written and will be written, this people will be judged. And by the records their works will be made known to men. And all these things are written by the Father; therefore out of the books which my witnesses write, the world will be judged.
And you should know that you are the judges of this people because you are the witnesses, according to the judgment which I give to you, which will be just. Therefore, what manner of men should you be? You should be even as I am. And what gospel, foundation and principles should guide you? My doctrine. In whose name should you be immersed and baptized? My name, which represents these things.
And now I go to the Father. And tell you in truth, whatever you ask of the Father in my name will be given to you. If the purpose of your prayer is to carry out my doctrine and does away with contention, then it will be granted. Therefore, ask, and you will shall receive; knock, and the door will be opened to you; for he that asks will receive; and unto him that knocks, the door will be opened.
And now my joy is great, even completely full, because of you, and also this generation. Yes, and even the Father rejoices, and also all the holy angels, because of you and this generation; for none of them are lost. But I need to clarify so that you understand; I mean those who are now alive in this generation are not lost; and in them I have a fullness of joy.
But I am sad because of the fourth generation from this generation. For they are led away captive by the one who was the son of perdition; for they will sell my flesh, my sacrament for silver and for gold, and for that which the moth corrupts and which thieves can break through and steal. And in that day will I visit them, even in turning their works upon their own heads.
[Again, I need to clarify that you understand. The reason the fourth generation will fail is because the church will not be built up on my foundation, my guiding principles, my rock and my gospel. You see, of my twelve witnesses, only three of you desired my will to bring the lost and fallen of the world to me. It is because of these three that this generation is saved. For they will go to their adversaries using my guiding principles. They will be thrown into pits of fire and wild beasts by their enemies, but because they have been more blessed by the gifts which I have given them, they will not be harmed. In fact, those who threw them into the pit will see the love my three witnesses have for them and be converted to my name.
However, because the nine desired to be in my presence, receive my rest and comfort and have their mortal ministry come to an end instead of desiring charity for their fellow man, they were not built on my rock. My principles did not guide their desires. And while they are good men and are blessed because of their desire to be with me instead of being upon my foundation which never fails, the sand will shift and the church will fall. Those who follow in their place will eventually corrupt the law which I have given them and will sell the sacrament for money. They will say that the gold and silver (which thieves can steal) is to adorn their synagogues to show respect to God. And they will say that fine clothing to cover their bodies (which can be corrupted by moths) is to revere the Holy One, in whose kingdom they want rest and comfort; but this will cause them to be proud. It will also create a caste society where there are levels of rank and hierarchy, and will cause contention and complaining among the people, which is not my doctrine.
And because the people will have your writings and know my gospel, there will be no excuse for them. They will brag about their gifts of the Spirit which I will have so abundantly poured out to them, and so the Spirit will be taken from them, and they will be left without my protection and will contend with their offended brothers until they are completely destroyed.]
And when Jesus had ended teaching them, he said to his witnesses, the disciples: Enter in at the strait gate; for strait is the gate, and narrow is the way that leads to life, and there are few who find and immerse themselves in my guiding principles; but wide is the gate, and broad the way which leads to death, and many there be that travel in that way, until the night comes, at which place no man can work.

--------------------------------------------------------------- The Answer
Ibo ad ecclesiam
I will go, I will go, to the home of the Saints,
Where the virtue's the value, and life the reward;
But before I return to my former estate
I must ask forgiveness from you and the Lord.
And in turn I give it to those who offend
Whether by their swift judgment or the harsh words they say
For what good does charity do in the in end
If asking, I do not return it today?
So, hear, O ye heavens, and give ear O earth;
And rejoice ye inhabitants, women and men;
I'll walk with you brother, in jubilant mirth,
I'll sup in your cultural halls once again.
God's ways are a wonder; his wisdom is great;
The extent of his doings, there's none can unveil;
His purposes fail not; with all He relates;
His love is the same, although we may fail.
I will go, I will go, I will raise my right hand,
When asked to sustain all the Brethren true;
I'll follow the Lord and obey His command.
I will go, I will go, brother, I will go there with you.

Listen, heavens, while I speak; hear, earth, the words that I shall say! May my teaching fall like the rain, may my word drop down like the dew, like showers on the grass, like light rain on the turf!
For I have proclaimed the name of The Lord. Oh, tell the greatness of our God! He is the Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are equitable. A trustworthy God who does no wrong, he is the Honest, the Upright One!
You have acted perversely, a deceitful and underhand brood. Is this the return you make to The Lord? O people brainless and unwise! Is this not your Father, who gave you being, who made you, by whom you subsist? Think back on the days of old, think over the years, down the ages. Question your Father, let him explain to you, your elders, and let them tell you!
When the Most High gave the nations each their heritage, when he partitioned out the human race, he assigned the boundaries of nations according to the number of the children of God, but The Lord's portion was His people, Jacob was to be the measure of his inheritance.
In the desert he finds him, in the howling expanses of the wastelands. He protects him, rears him, guards him as the pupil of his eye. Like an eagle watching its nest, hovering over its young, he spreads out his wings to hold him, he supports him on his pinions. The Lord alone is his guide; no alien god for him!
He gives him the heights of the land to ride, he feeds him on the yield of the mountains, he gives him honey from the rock to taste, and oil from the flinty crag; curds from the cattle, milk from the flock, and the richness of the pasture, rams of Bashan's breed, and goats, the richness of the wheat kernel; the fermented blood of the grape for drink.
Ephraim has eaten to his heart's content, grown fat, has now lashed out. (You have grown fat, gross, bloated.) He has disowned the God who made him, and dishonoured the Rock, his salvation, whose jealousy they aroused with foreigners -- with things detestable they angered him.
'I shall soon hide my face from them,' The Lord says, 'and see what will become of them. For they are a deceitful brood, children with no loyalty in them. They have roused me to jealousy with a non-god, they have exasperated me with their idols.
What a short-sighted nation this is, how thoroughly imperceptive! Were they wise, they would succeed, they would be able to read their destiny. How else could one man rout a thousand, how could two put ten thousand to flight, were it not that their Rock has sold them, that the Lord has delivered them up?
But their rock is not like our Rock; our enemies cannot pray for us! (But we will pray for them.) For their vine springs from the stock of Sodom and from the groves of Gomorrah: their grapes are poisonous grapes, their clusters are bitter; their wine is snakes' poison, the vipers' cruel venom.
But he, is he not safe with me, sealed inside my treasury?
The day of Ephraim's ruin is close, doom is rushing towards them, for he will see to it that their power fails, that neither serf nor free man remains. The Lord will see his people righted, he will take pity on his servants, whose hearts are turned towards Him and His will.
'Where are their gods then?' he will ask, 'the rock where they sought refuge, who ate the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine of their libations?' Let these arise and help you, let these be the shelter above you! The sparks which you have kindled will fail.
'See now that I, I AM he, and there is no other god like unto me. It is I who deal death and life; when I have struck, it is I who heal.'
Heavens, rejoice with him, let all the children of God pay him homage! Nations, rejoice with his people, let God's envoys tell of his power!
Moses came with Joshua son of Nun and recited all the words of this song in the people's hearing. When Moses had finished reciting these words to all Israel, he said to them, 'Take all these words to heart; I intend them today to be a witness to you. You must teach your children to keep and observe all the words of this Law. You must not think of this as empty words, for the Law is your life, and by its means you will live long in the country which captive Israel will cross the mountains to possess.
Thus saith the Lord: because of the thing which ye have desired of me, ye shall have fulness of joy; and ye shall sit down in the kingdom of my Father to go no more out, but to dwell with God eternally in the heavens. And he that receiveth my Father receiveth my Father’s kingdom; therefore all that my Father hath shall be given unto him. And this is according to the oath and covenant which belongeth to the priesthood. Yea, your joy shall be full, even as the Father hath given me fulness of joy; and ye shall be even as I am, and I am even as the Father; and the Father and I are one. Behold we shall be one with thee.
If the Gentiles shall repent and come unto me, it shall be well with them; For behold, they do not eat up the vineyard and the spoil of the poor in their houses. And for this cause shall they eat the fruit of their doings and receive the stay and the staff, the whole staff of bread, and the whole stay of water. And they shall come up out of captivity forever.
The Lord sends rain without a stay
In the hills above us, in the hills;
And presently the floods break way
Whose strength is in the hills.
The trees they suck from every cloud,
The valley brooks they roar aloud--
Bank-high for the lowlands, lowlands,
Lowlands under the hills!
The eye shall look, the ear shall hark
To the hills, the doings in the hills!
And rivers joining in the dark
With tokens from the hills.
Now what is weak will surely go,
And what is strong must prove it so--
Stand Fast in the lowlands, lowlands,
Lowlands under the hills!
The floods they shall not be afraid--
Nor the hills above 'em, nor the hills--
Of any fence which man has made
Betwixt him and the hills.
The waters shall not reckon twice
For any work of man's device,
But bid it down to the lowlands, lowlands,
Lowlands under the hills!
GOLD floods shall sweep corruption clean--
By the hills, the blessing of the hills--
That more the meadows may be green
New-mended from the hills.
The crops and cattle shall increase,
Nor little children shall not cease.
Go--plough the lowlands, lowlands,
Lowlands under the hills!
