Give me the gift to see within
The hearts and minds and fears of men
That viewing I can understand
Their struggles and extend my hand
For lifting up or wiping tears
For clapping or for shifting gears
To give a drink or make a meal
To grasp and shake or steady still
For every soul who draws a breath
Desires one thing before their death:
To love and be loved with no strings
Attached to debts and silly things
Give, oh Lord, to me a way
To know the hearts of men today
That like the kind, all-seeing Son
With others I may be at one
