Let no man err, of a surety, these things are upon us and shall shortly come to pass:
Behold, the Lord, the Lord of Hosts, doth take away from the Gentiles, the stay and the staff, the whole staff of bread, and the whole stay of water—the mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient; the captain of fifty, and the honorable man, and the counselor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.
And I will give children unto them to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them. And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbor; the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honorable.
A man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, and shall say: Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let not this ruin come under thy hand. In that day shall he swear, saying:
"Ephraim is fallen, because our tongues and our doings have been against the Lord, to provoke the eyes of his glory. The show of our countenance and right hand doth witness against us, and doth declare our sin to be even as Sodom, and we cannot hide it. We have rewarded evil unto ourselves!
"But it is well with the righteous; for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
"Wo unto the wicked, for the reward of our right hands shall be upon us, unless we repent!
And my people, children become our oppressors. O my people, they who lead us cause us to err and destroy the way of His path.
"The Lord standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people. The Lord will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people and the princes thereof; for we have eaten up the vineyard and the spoil of the poor in our houses. We have received the contents of the Vessels, but used them for our own purposes."
You beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor, saith the Lord God of Hosts. Moreover, the Lord saith: Because the children of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched-forth necks; therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the children of Zion, and the Lord will discover their secret parts and combinations. Thy men shall fall by the sword and thy mighty overthrown in war, saith the Lord of Hosts.
O my people, let us repent before the great and terrible day is upon us, lest our gates lament and mourn, and our vessels become empty, we become desolate, and sit upon the ground, as salt which has lost its savor: good for nothing, cast out and trodden under foot of men.
